Chelsea Clinton continues the fight for gender equality and female empowerment with a new children’s book titled She Persisted. Illustrated by Alexandra Boiger, the book features 13 historical women who boldly faced adversity to shape our country into what it is today.
The storybook is set to feature figures such as Helen Keller, Harriet Tubman, Sally Ride, Oprah Winfrey, and—surprise!—Chelsea’s own mother, Hillary.
“She Persisted” has become a kind of mantra to those who fight for women’s rights, after Senator Elizabeth Warren was blocked from speaking to the Senate by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. “She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted,” McConnell said at the time.
Clinton states that her goal with this project is to inspire young readers to never back down, “I wrote this book for everyone who’s ever wanted to speak up, but has been told to quiet down, for everyone who’s ever been made to feel less than.”
Also the author of It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going, Clinton explains that, “The 13 women in She Persisted all overcame adversity to help shape our country—sometimes through speaking out, sometimes by staying seated, sometimes by captivating an audience. With this book, I want to send a message to young readers around the country—and the world—that persistence is power.”
The book will be made available on May 30th. Click here to pre-order a copy for a bright young person in your life.
