Love Rashida Jones? You’re in luck. Jones has just teamed up with TNT to release an hour-long dark comedy centered around the wild lives of the manicurists working at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon. Talk about TV right at your fingertips!
Though the majority of the pilot was shot in New Orleans, Sarasota County Film and Entertainment Office Director Jeanne Corcoran said a few scenes were filmed in Sarasota County itself. She is hopeful that at least portions of future episodes will be shot here locally.
The aptly-named “Claws” is set to debut with 10 episodes in the first season focused on salon owner Desna. This feisty lady already has her hands full caring for her mentally ill twin brother, but the real difficulties arise with her less-than-flawless crew of manicurists. Desna’s motley bunch includes a recently sober ex-party chick, a girl who’s no stranger to being on the wrong side of the law, and an employee who doesn’t bother disguising the fact that she hates her job. But the craziness doesn’t stop there. With the inclusion of a so-called “gangstered-out redneck” who operates a pain clinic and uses the salon to launder profits, the chaos is never ending.
Set to premiere in 2017, “Claws” is shaping up to be the perfect addition to your growing must-watch list!
