You have to go to work to take a break. My husband and I knew this was true, as did almost all of my friends who had decided to stay home and take care of their children. We now have evidence to back up our joke.
A 2012 study showed that mothers who worked full time reported significantly better physical and mental health than mothers who worked part time. And mothers who worked part time reported better health than mothers who stayed home. Apparently many work places are less stressful than taking care of infants and toddlers at home.
