In doing the preliminary research on what are the best bathing suits to buy in 2014, I have come to the conclusion that most of these beauty editors must either be 12 years old or weigh 98 pounds, or both. I understand that there are many women out there who are fabulously fit. I strive to be one myself every day, but I and most of the ladies that I see around the pool and at the beach would not be caught dead in the vast majority of the “best” bathing suits this year. So, I have put together a short list of what to look for when shopping for swimwear.
- Buy black. It is the most popular color in bathing suits for a reason; that reason being it hides a multitude of sins.
- Spend the money. A good quality bathing suit will cost you more, but it is worth it. They fit better, are more flattering and hold their shape longer.
- When in doubt, wear a one piece. They are always appropriate. They can be either sporty or sexy depending on cut and they have the added bonus of hiding belly bulges and dare I say it, stretch marks.
That’s it. These tips work whether you are 22 or 62, 110 pounds or 210 pounds, and will never suffer the trendy label or leave you feeling “beached”.
